Singapore: Where to now in Singapore? - Travel Destinations

Singapore, the Lion City of South East Asia, has proved its worth of being one of the top business destinations in Asia. Honestly, before I had the chance of visiting Singapore, my idea in mind was that this country and its workers only have one goal in mind - work hard for themselves and for their country.

Yes, I can attest to that fact when I visited their country but beyond that, surprised I was because they still have time to enjoy their personal lives. I was sincerely in awe that they have a lot of tourist destinations to offer given the limited area the country has. A jam-packed business-tourist city at its finest!

So now, where to in Singapore?

Will this amount of money let me survive? :)

Strolling around the world-famous Marina Bay, a lot of beautiful and scenic landmarks can be found. First of course is the Marina Bay Sands Hotel. It's a three-building hotel that is connected by a giant "ship-like" structure at the top. An infinity pool that lets you have a bird's eye view of the city-country awaits every guests atop the hotel. If you're not a hotel guest, sadly you need to pay around SGD 20 to be granted an access.

At the foot of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel, you may find The Shoppes at Marina Bay, Art Science Museum, Singapore Flyer, and The Helix Bridge. The Shoppes features most of the high-end brands in the world from clothes to shoes to bags, Art Science Museum showcases some of the exhibits from Art to History to Music, Singapore Flyer which costs SGD 25 gives you an opportunity to have a 20-minute view of the country, and the Helix Bridge...just magnificent at night! Need I say more? :)

Recently, they built a garden near the Marina which they call as the "Gardens by the Bay". The area was really huge and filled with teeming flora and fauna. Didn't expect a busy city has this at the center of its metropolis. Visiting this place at night is so memorable because of its spectacular light shows!

Standing from the Art Science Museum and just across the Marina Bay, you will see a small cemented white figure with a water fountain. Who else but the Merlion, a symbol of Singapore's booming tourism industry. As its name speaks for itself, it means "half-lion" and "half-fish".

However, I can still clearly remember the story of a Singaporean taxi driver that the Merlion doesn't have any significance or relation to the country's history. It was "just there" and nothing more. It's because the tourist see this as an icon of Singapore that's why the government adopted this symbol. Who cares what's true and what's not, tourist still love it and always a must-see in their Singapore itineraries.

Unfortunately, I only have less time strolling around this beautiful country. There still are more destinations to mark and below are other must-see places (...that I'm wanting to go next time too) !
  • Universal Studios Singapore
  • Sentosa Island
  • Siloso Beach
  • Night Safari
  • Chinatown
  • Little India
Still got more time in Singapore? Have a short detour along Geylang area and see how things come to life at night!
