Hong Kong: Avenue Of Stars - Getting Closer With The Stars

Bruce Lee, Jackie Chan, Chow Yun-Fat!

Name as many Hong Kong actors as you can and you may just be more envious with me as it was a great feeling being closer with these stars for a minute of my life - Or should I fittingly say, closer with their "stars" featured at the Avenue Of Stars in Hong Kong.

It was an overwhelming feeling of mixed excitement and curiousness when I visited the Avenue of Stars in Tsim Sha Tsui area or popularly known for its acronym "TST". I may not have met in person my favorite HK stars, but at least I got hold of their commemorative stars and took some souvenir photos that will definitely be a good and lasting remembrance!

People flocking TST, fronting the Harbour Bay, were like bees and ants to my eyes - so many people here and there taking photos of themselves together with the "star" of their favorite star. I can still clearly remember when I was searching for Jackie Chan's star. It was quite a challenge as we visited the place at night time, 8PM to be exact, and the crowd was just surreal. Walking fast-paced, searching meticulously, and never missing a star on my way, few meters away I saw Jackie Chan's name! Aha, No one's there yet! (which was actually quite unbelievable due to his popularity). I hurriedly ran towards his star and made all efforts that no one will see it before me. And yes, at last I had my photograph taken!

And the story doesn't end there yet because as soon as other tourists realized that I was posing in front of Jackie's star, they quickly lined up after me, pretty much ecstatic, and have their photos taken too with Jackie. Minutes after, I was like left out in the scene, in which I do not know how, as tourists were way eager to touch their favorite actor's star. Oh well, we all are tourists and we only live once and visit a foreign place not-so-often.

How to go to the Avenue Of Stars in TST? Easy as one-two-three as transportation in Hong Kong is way better than you expect. Very efficient, fast, relatively cheaper, and accessible to most tourist destinations. Alight either Tsim Sha Tsui (RED line) or East Tsim Sha Tsui Station (VIOLET line) and follow the signboards going out of the train station and to the avenue of the stars. The signboards are very helpful and make traveling in Hong Kong more convenient! Check out Hong Kong MTR website for the updated fare table: www.mtr.com.hk.

TRAVEL TIP: Lantau Island, Sha Tin, Mongkok, Victoria Peak, and now The Avenue of the Stars - some of the tourist-worthy spots that are surely worth of your time and camera lenses. The cool harbour breeze at TST area is so inviting and relaxing, not minding the huge number of visitors of course :)

Also, every 8PM, there is the "Symphony of Lights" presentation being held which is a roughly 15-minute musical light show participated by some of the tallest buildings and skyscrapers fronting the bay. Get your cameras ready on full battery and never be late! :)
