Majayjay, Laguna: Dalitiwan Mountain Resort

TRAVEL DATES: April 18 - 19, 2014

When one talks about Laguna, it is instantly being associated with the famous Enchanted Kingdom theme park, Splash Island Resort, Mt. Banahaw, and Mt. Makiling. However, Laguna Province, which is only an hour or two away from Metro Manila, offers more than the eye can see!

The Municipality of Majayjay, around 2 - 3 hour ride from Manila, can be reached through different provincial buses with routes going to Laguna.

TRAVEL TIP: Particularly Greenstar Lines located along the stretch of Taft Avenue and near Buendia, has a route going to Sta. Cruz. Alighting Sta. Cruz, you may transfer to a jeepney ride and a tricycle ride going to Majayjay. Bus fare is around PHP 140 and jeepney fare is around PHP 75.

Welcome To Majayjay, Laguna!

Dalitiwan Mountain Resort, a less popular destination compared to other tourist spots in Majayjay such as the Taytay Falls, has been gaining popularity as time goes by, as thousands of excursionists and tourists visit the place every single day. It is situated at Brgy. Ilayang Banga, Majayjay, Laguna which is around 10 minutes from the center of town. One can really feel the cold ambiance upon entering the mountain resort because of the tall trees enveloping it, as they were embracing the resort from the extreme heat of the sun!

I'm honestly surprised seeing some concrete cottages and overnight accommodations as I was expecting that it was only a simple overnight go-to staycation that one can simply enjoy. I must say I'm impressed with the extent of development that has been done on the resort.

So what are the amenities they offer to travelers? They do have some make-shift cottages which one can rent throughout the day, and they also have several concrete cottages for overnight room accommodations. Most cottages and rooms are located just along the river so you can really feel the nature, so-close. However at night, the sound of the water flowing in the river is a bit noisy to the ear.

The overnight room that we rented cost PHP 2,400 which was originally good for 5 - 6 persons, but unbelievable as it may seem, we were 19 in the room. Of course, we all did not sleep inside the room as we will be like sardines packed in a 10 sq. m. of floor area. Well as what they say, it's not the place that you go to but the people who you are with when you visited the place.

The thing I like the most in the resort is the mini waterfalls - very clean and very inviting. One can definitely not resist jumping into the cold river water and just enjoy. Picture takings here and there, making sure capturing the right picture, on the right angle, on the right location, and on the right timing.

Who wouldn't dare stepping their feet into these waters?

Perhaps if there's one thing I don't like about the resort, it's the maintenance of the pool's cleanliness. A lot of kids and kids at heart swim and jump in the pool and the water seemed to look murky already. I believe the resort's crews have already addressed this issue in order to maintain a healthy environment for traveling friends and family groups.

I guess visiting Majayjay has been an understatement. Majayjay is more than just a rural municipality with green fields and livestocks, it's a must-visit place that one can definitely relax and de-stress!
