Batad, Ifugao: Ramon's Homestay - Accommodation Review

There aren't much pension houses, guest houses, homestays, and inns in Batad, Banaue, Ifugao and choosing a place to stay will only give you few options. Batad is a small village comprised only by few thousands of locals, and it is roughly an hour away from Banaue. The main roads going here are decently paved, however, the views are kinda scary since the terrains are mountainous.

Some of the places to stay that you may find in Batad are the following: Hillside Inn, Samson's Guesthouse, Rita's Guesthouse, Christina's Guesthouse, Foreigner's Inn, Batad Pension, Grace's Homestay, and Ramon's Homestay.

So why did I choose Ramon over the others? Simply because it is popular among backpackers visiting Batad, and Ramon's has the traditional Ifugao Huts that you can book.

Baguio, Sagada, Banaue: Transportation Options - Part 1

Visiting the provinces of the Cordillera Region may be a challenge as only few commuter bus lines offer regular trips going here. Well, with the exception of Baguio City which has long been dubbed as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, traveling to other less known destinations such as Mt. Province and Ifugao must be carefully plotted out.

Cordillera Region offers mountainous terrains and zigzag roads, and crossing province after province will give you a scary feeling because of the steep road slopes, however, the reward of picturesque views will definitely satisfy your eyes.

Thinking Thoughts: Make Traveling a Lifestyle With A Purpose

It's really nice seeing more and more foreigners visiting The Philippines and experiencing what our country offers - from culture, to food, to natural resources, and of course to people. We are not the most visited country in Southeast Asian Region, Thailand I believe, but we are slowly getting there and climbing up the pedestal - establishing the beauty of our country.

There were actually times where I felt alienated in my own country because some travel destinations are flocked mostly by foreigners and not locals. It's surprising how they have managed to research and pushed through with their travels in some of the less known and remote tourist spots in our country.

How come foreigners can and we Filipinos cannot?

Batad, Banaue, Ifugao: Every Traveler's Bucketlist - Part 3

To complete my list of reasons why I love Batad, I have here my last four reasons to establish my thoughts. From Manila, travel time going to Ifugao Province may be a pain as it takes roughly 10 to 11 hours of bus ride from Sampaloc Terminal, through the Ohayami Bus Line.

There are only few trips per night bound for Banaue, Ifugao so be sure to book your tickets prior to your scheduled trip to avoid any inconvenience. Ohayami Bus leaves Sampaloc, Manila at around 9 - 10 PM and will arrive Banaue at around 7 - 8 AM. Tourists flock Banaue during sunny seasons, January to May, as the rice terraces are dry and luscious greens.

Batad, Banaue, Ifugao: Every Traveler's Bucketlist - Part 2

So to continue my previous post regarding my "Bucketlist of I love" about Batad in Ifugao, Philippines, listed here are the next four reasons to essentially support my claims. As only few may have known, the Rice Terraces most postcards show are those actually located in Ifugao, either in Banaue or Batad.

Life is fairly different in rural areas as compared to urbanized cities in The Philippines such as Baguio City. The way of living in the rurals is simpler and as I may call it - slow and steady, and that's the reason why we need to take a break from the stressful city biome and jumpstart a relaxing day in the mountains of greens or beaches of blues and aquas.

Batad, Banaue, Ifugao: Every Traveler's Bucketlist - Part 1

Visiting Batad, in the mountainous Municipality of Banaue, Province of Ifugao, is a living proof that Philippines is still one of the best places in the world, deserving to be on every tourist's travel getaway list. Where comfort is already met with simple and yet quality way of life is definitely an understatement in Batad.

If there's gonna be a single rant that I want to express about Batad, that would be the expensive prices of foods and commodities - however it is pretty justified as they are transporting these supplies from Banaue market which is quite a distance, plus they hire porters to carry all the supplies which includes bottled softdrinks. Oh my, carrying these supplies on a not-so-friendly terrain down the terraces is one heck of a serious job.

Joven's Beach Resort, Cagbalete Island: Facilities, Activities, And Rates

So what's basically there to do in Cagbalete Island, in Mauban, Quezon? Well personally, I'd rather maximize my time doing nothing in Cagbalete - simply staring at the beach horizon, watching the sun set, and having some chit-chats with friends over beer, at night.

Cagbalete Island, Mauban Quezon

Nevertheless, if you get bored on the island, and just taking note of the time as it goes by, there are also a lot of activities available that the resorts offer. On our case, we stayed overnight at Joven's Blue Sea Beach Resort, and I find my stay worthwhile because of the sports facilities and amenities they have.

Joven's Beach Resort, Cagbalete Island: Resort Review

Cagbalete Island is a fisherfolk village situated roughly 45 minutes away from Mauban Port, via pump boat trips. It is also considered as one of the tourist haven for group of friends and barkadas wanting to have a breath of fresh air, and is just a short drive from Metro Manila.

The island, being relative small and less populated, is still teeming with beach resorts lining up the beach fronts. There are only 2 passenger boat trips going to Cagbalete from Mauban, and 2 return trips as well, but how come the beach resort industry is booming? Well, I figured something when we arrived at the island and that is, most of the beach resort owners are family relatives, and they help each other promote the tourist destination by improving their facilities and fairly regulated rates.

Cagayan De Oro, Misamis Oriental: Will's Place - Hotel Review

There are several hotels, pension houses, and places to stay in Cagayan De Oro City, and more developments are transpiring ever since the city has been dubbed as the haven for extreme adventures such as the White Water Rafting. If you're looking for one of the cheapest places to stay in CDO, then Will's Place may definitely suit your travel budget.

Wills Place Cagayan De Oro
Will's Place, Cagayan De Oro

Will's Place is located within the city center, in front of City Central School and near CDO Sports Complex, and a jeep ride only going to Agora Terminal. It is just a small pension house, and not as fancy as other hotel accommodations; well, their price rates speak for itself - of course given that prices should also meet comfort and value for money.

Cagayan De Oro To Camiguin: Transportation Options - Getting There

Cagayan De Oro to Camiguin is a more popular route than its vice versa, mainly because there are more plane flights going to Cagayan De Oro than Camiguin. CDO is considered as the business district and central hub of the Northern Mindanao region thus the creation of their recently operated Laguindingan Airport.

RORO Boat to Benoni Port, Camiguin
RORO Ferry to Benoni Port, Camiguin

There are few plane flight schedules going directly to Camiguin Island, usually from Cebu City through Cebu Pacific Air, but as what I've known, it is more expensive. The facilities of CDO's Laguindingan Airport on the other hand are at par to other main airports in The Philippines, and those definitely are plus factors both for local and international travelers.

Mambajao, Camiguin: White Island Sandbar - Day Tour

The more popular tourist destination in Camiguin Island, the White Island Sandbar, is situated just minutes away from Paras Beach Resort, via pumpboat. From Paras, one can actually see the view of the island, just an ordinary sandbar from afar, but such a picturesque scene when you are already in the island.

White Island Sandbar is always included in every traveler's and tour company's bucket list because of the serenity and calmness the island offers. Views of the sunrise and sunset are best captured in the White Island because of the addition of the Mt. Hibok-Hibok on the background; making one realize how rich The Philippines has been blessed with natural resources.

Mambajao, Camiguin: Paras Beach Resort - Hotel Review

The Island Province of Camiguin, in the southern part of The Philippines, is only a small contingent comprising the thousands of islands that make up the archipelago. But it surely does not equally translate to what it can offer as it has several rich outdoor and extreme activities one can enjoy.

Camiguin Benoni Port

Camiguin can be reached by boat, approximately an hour and a half travel, from Cagayan De Oro. Upon reaching Benoni Port in Camiguin island, you'll appreciate the province feel of the place and it is way better than the bustling city life; quiet, peaceful, pollution-free, and filled with fun-loving people. The positive aura that the Camiguin residents emanate is very refreshing.
