Mambajao, Camiguin: Paras Beach Resort - Hotel Review

The Island Province of Camiguin, in the southern part of The Philippines, is only a small contingent comprising the thousands of islands that make up the archipelago. But it surely does not equally translate to what it can offer as it has several rich outdoor and extreme activities one can enjoy.

Camiguin can be reached by boat, approximately an hour and a half travel, from Cagayan De Oro. Upon reaching Benoni Port in Camiguin island, you'll appreciate the province feel of the place and it is way better than the bustling city life; quiet, peaceful, pollution-free, and filled with fun-loving people. The positive aura that the Camiguin residents emanate is very refreshing.

There are only limited homestays, guest houses, pension houses, and hotels found in Camiguin, so be sure to have prior bookings especially during peak seasons which I believe are during the months of March to May and December to January. One of the highly-recommended and above par place to stay for a relaxing stay-cation is the Paras Beach Resort

From Benoni port, it takes around 1 hour land travel to reach Paras Beach Resort. It is located on the other side of the island, relative to Benoni port, but the seaside scenery that Camiguin offers is definitely memorable and unforgettable.

For my nitty-gritty feedback regarding the hotel's amenities, you may find some references below. These are all based on my own experience when I stayed for 3D/2N at Paras Beach Resort.

  • Nice loft-type room and comfort at its best
  • Beds, pillows, and toilets are all two thumbs up
  • A lot of amenities to offer such as billiard tables and table tennis
  • A relaxing pool overlooking the seashore and seawall
  • Very near the White Island sandbar

  • Limited Wi-Fi connectivity, only in common areas
  • No beach front because of the seawall
  • Relatively more costly than other available hotels
  • Foods served in the restaurant are mediocre in taste

To sum it up, I highly recommend to fellow travelers who want a home away from home, the Paras Beach Resort. Value for money is definitely a plus factor and amenities-wise, what you pay is what you get.

TRAVEL TIP: For budget-conscious travelers, there's a cheap local resto near Paras Beach Resort. It's called Checkpointe, yes with an "e", and they serve affordable foods, including a variety of SILOGs for breakfast, a typical Filipino "sinangag" + "itlog" combo, and as well as sumptuous dinner meals.
