Mauban, Quezon Province: Transportation Options Available

Cagbalete Island is one of the beaches fairly accessible from Metro Manila, and is considered as one of the top over-the-weekend go-to places for local tourists. Its proximity from Manila makes it very convenient to travel either by private car or commuter bus.

Cagbalete Island is situated in the Municipality of Mauban in the Province of Quezon. Quezon belongs to one of the mostly-populated region, Region IV-A, known as CALABARZON, which covers the Southern Luzon Region. The province breeze of nearby provinces of Laguna and Batangas will greet you before reaching Quezon Province.

Getting There By Bus:

1. From CUBAO

JAC Liner has 5 AM daily trips that go straight to Mauban, Quezon. This bus route is more convenient than their other bus terminals in the metro as it brings you directly to Mauban, without making any bus transfers that add up to one's travel time. Below are the available trips going to Lucena and Mauban from Cubao Terminal:

Midnight Trips: 11 PM & 12 MN
24 Hours Operation (FRI-SUN)

If you opt to leave Manila at an earlier time, JAC Liner Buendia has early morning trips going to Lucena Grand Terminal. As early as 2 AM, the first bus trip is already available. During holiday seasons however, there are a lot of people already lining up the terminal as early as 11 PM. In my case, we arrived JAC Liner Buendia at 1 AM, and yet there was already a long queue of people ahead of us. We departed at around 2:30 AM through their 3rd bus schedule. Below are JAC's available trips to Quezon:

TRAVEL TIP: For fare budget, you may need to prepare around PHP 700 for a two-way trip. Buendia to Lucena Grand Terminal bus fare costs PHP 209.50, through JAC Liner's new, clean and well air-conditioned bus. Alighting Lucena Terminal, transfer to a local bus, NCR Rienton bus line,  bound for Mauban, and the bus fare is PHP 54.00

Arriving Mauban terminal, you may choose to ride a tricycle going to Daungan Port which costs PHP 10 per person, or you may walk roughly 1.5 kilometers passing by Mauban's beautiful Baywalk, facing the port area.

Quezon Province is such a delight to visit, as one will surely experience the fusion of province life and vibrant locals. It may not be as industrialized as other provinces in Luzon Area, but the beauty and picturesque scenes it offers during the bus ride is surreal. Lush greens and fresh air are as good as one can get!
